| Which option do you prefer? |
Option 2: Retain the current 80km/h speed limit, do not change speed limit
|
| Please tell us why? |
Create a bus route on Hutchinson Road nearer to the development entrance with a roundabout as a turning point. People won’t have to walk so far to catch the bus and this will be a much safer option for them. The speed limit can remain 80km on Te Rapa Road.
It doesn’t make sense to reduce the speed for such a small section of road where foot traffic is non existent and too far from the housing development. The plan does not show any new footpaths cutting through to Te Rapa Road and residents will need to walk a fair distance to catch a bus. This will be more of a deterrent to residents. |
| Do you think any other physical changes are required to support the proposed speed limit change? |
Yes. Change the bus route to Hutchinson Road instead so that the speed limit remains 80km on Te Rapa Road.
