Submission ID 8340
Name Graham Ferry
Date 26 February 2026
Which option do you prefer?
Option 1: Reduce the speed limit from 80km/h to 60km/h
Please tell us why?
The environment of this segment of the road network will, as Te Awa evolves, become increasingly residential in nature. In addition, the commercial node on the corner of Te Rapa/Hutchinson generates slowing and turning vehicles. The future installation of signals further slows vehicles coming off the higher speed environment of SH1C. It makes perfect sense to reduce the speed limit to 60 kph from the roundabout south. (In fact, I'm not sure why the very competent traffic engineers in Council could not simply make the decision without the need for a length and presumably somewhat costly public consultation...)
How do you travel through the area?
Drive, Bike/Scooter
What do you use Te Rapa Road north for?
Travelling north bound/south bound, For recreation i.e. cycling/bike track
Are you giving feedback on behalf of an organisation?
No, these are my own personal views
