Submission ID 8358
Name Dean Tucker
Date 27 February 2026
Which option do you prefer?
Option 2: Retain the current 80km/h speed limit, do not change speed limit
Please tell us why?
The accident and injury figures do not support a speed reduction, all it will provide is another opportunity for the NZ Police to overzealously patrol this stretch of road and issue infringements in the name of road safety, when there is no safety issue.
I fail to see the need for a signalised crossing, I get it's a condition of the consent, but developers will agree to almost anything to get their projects consented. It should be up to the new residents to decide if/where they need a crossing and if it should be a signalised or underpass crossing.
Do you think any other physical changes are required to support the proposed speed limit change?
Put in an underpass, then no speed reduction required at all.
How do you travel through the area?
Drive
What do you use Te Rapa Road north for?
Travelling north bound/south bound
Are you giving feedback on behalf of an organisation?
No, these are my own personal views
