Which option do you prefer?
Option 1: Reduce the speed limit from 80km/h to 60km/h
Please tell us why?
As the development fills up with families there will be more pedestrian and cycle/scooter activity around the roads so the danger from high-speed traffic will increase. I think lower speed limits will reduce the chances of accidents involving motor vehicles and other road users, and increase survivability when accidents do occur. I think the lower speed limit will improve comfort of non-motor road users also, making it likely that more people will walk and cycle in the area. This is better for people's health and the environment.
Do you think any other physical changes are required to support the proposed speed limit change?
Put speed humps in. I don't particularly like them myself, but I prefer that to endangering life. Motorists are not good at self-regulating. Alternative to speed humps would be permanent speed cameras.
How do you travel through the area?
Drive, Bike/Scooter, Walk
What do you use Te Rapa Road north for?
Travelling north bound/south bound, For recreation i.e. cycling/bike track
Are you giving feedback on behalf of an organisation?
No, these are my own personal views
