Which option do you prefer?
Option 1: Reduce the speed limit from 80km/h to 60km/h
Please tell us why?
Anything that makes it safer for pedestrians and cyclists is an important win! I cannot drive due to disabilities, and I have found it to be quite unsafe here. I got hit by a car who was in the wrong just one month after moving to Hamilton. Fortunately they were slowing down and only hit me at about 12 km/h, my injuries were about equivalent to falling off a bike as a kid, but much worse could have happened.
Do you think any other physical changes are required to support the proposed speed limit change?
Narrower roads tends to make roads safer as it subconsciously encourages drivers to drive slower. Te Rapa Road can be quite wide with wide lanes, encouraging drivers to go faster.
How do you travel through the area?
Bike/Scooter, Walk
What do you use Te Rapa Road north for?
For recreation i.e. cycling/bike track, Often travelling to areas in Te Rapa such as Te Awa/The Base, PB Tech, Pathlab, and others.
Are you giving feedback on behalf of an organisation?
No, these are my own personal views
