Do you support Council’s proposal to make minor amendments to the Trading in Public Places Bylaw?
I support option 1: continue the bylaw with proposed amendments
Please tell us the reasons for your response.
HCBA is supportive of the proposed changes in the Trading in Public Places Bylaw, however in view of recent events HCBA believes that Hamilton City Council needs to ensure that under the Offences section, point f - that as part of trading or carrying out an activity in a public places that causes nuisance or affects public health & safety that Council includes in this the right to cease unauthorised activity.
Do you support Council’s proposal to make minor amendments to the Trading in Public Places Policy?
I support option 1: continue the policy with proposed amendments
Please tell us the reasons for your response.
HCBA is supportive of the proposed amendments to the Trading in Public Places Bylaw, however would like to see consideration to introduce a paid license/permit for trading activity outside of a proposed event or market trading conditions, incorporated into section 71. below which could allow for one-off ad hoc food truck activity with limited days/times trading, compensating for not being a permanent business based in the central city. The license/permit fee could then be ringfenced to improvements in the central city.
71. A permit shall not be given to any market or event consisting predominantly of food trucks, that
intends to operate in the Central City (see the map in Schedule 34).
