1. Do you have any feedback on the IAWAI Water Services Strategy?
It seems to me that this is yet another way of getting money from the residents of Waikato and Hamilton City. All you are doing is creating yet another layer of government to do what could have been done by existing Councils. We (Councils) are getting far too messy in what they do day to day. How about you revert back to getting the basics done so people can live a some form of normal life. Keep the places clean and tidy. Provide enough rubbish bins so people use them. Keep drains clear, remove trees that are a problem, keep the roads in good condition. Plan for population increase properly, not just build and then discover that the services aren’t good enough.
Councils are forever wanting more and more money for their “favourite no use to the public” creations but how about you set out from the start to save people money.
Water is free. It arrives into our rivers free. The rivers belong to no one, or shouldn’t do so our water should be free. We pay for only getting it to and from our buildings. And in my opinion that should not be costing $30 billion!
2a. Do you support a growth pays for growth approach for new residential and commercial developments, including the use of growth charges to help fund growth-related infrastructure and services?
No
Please provide comment.
Water is free. It falls from the sky. All,we have to pay for is the supply and removal. That should not be costing $30 billion
