So HCC has split water out and boasts “only 6.8% rates increase this year”. Yet AIWAI barely even exists and it puts water rates up 2.9% already. It’s just scam for councils to “rates cap” as instructed by Central Government. Watch IAWAI rates go up 10% next year then add water metering to the mix in future and we’ll be paying much more in the long term. What a crock of shit.

Some families aren’t going to be able to pay for this. It’s tough out there. I think you need to include a waiver for struggling families and not just community groups. Not free, maybe just a lower rate. Charge businesses more to make up for the difference.
