There’s a new way to share your voice in making Hamilton thriving, connected and sustainable.
Hamilton City Council is inviting Hamiltonians to sign up to the Voice of Hamilton Kirikiriroa, to help shape their city by sharing ideas on how we can make Hamilton better for everyone.
Mayor Paula Southgate said the Voice of Hamilton is another tool to make it easy for people to bring their fresh thinking and ideas to Council projects and future plans.
“We make the best decisions for our city when we have input from the public. This will be a helpful tool in enabling this, but it won’t be our only tool. It’s a tool we can use to ensure we hear from more people, with different perspectives, and I think we will all benefit from that.”
Topics could cover transportation, community facilities, sustainability, through to climate change and more. Participants will be supported by Global research and insights experts NielsenIQ.
Council’s Strategy and Corporate Planning Unit Manager Julie Clausen said “When someone chooses to join the Voice of Hamilton Kirikiriroa, they are asked to take a short survey to understand their demographic and location profile (such as where they live, who they live with etc). We also ask about key areas of interest so we can look to target future engagement to what people care about.”
Voice of Hamilton Kirikiriroa members will be invited to take part in:
- quick and easy online surveys
- focus groups
- consultations and other engagement campaigns.
It’s important the pool of people represents Hamilton’s diverse population said Clausen. “We’re looking for people from all walks of life to help make decisions about our beautiful city.”
Other councils across New Zealand including Auckland and Wellington City have a similar engagement tool.
To say thank you for sharing your voice, those who register will also go in the draw to win one of five $100 Prezzy Cards.
