From next week rubbish and recycling will be collected one day later than usual following the Labour Day weekend.
This means if your rubbish or recycling collection usually falls on Monday, it will be collected on Tuesday. If it’s usually collected on Tuesday it will be collected on Wednesday and so on for the next week.
Collections will return to normal from Monday 1 November.
“If it’s your red week (rubbish week), put out your red rubbish wheelie bin and food scraps bin a day later than usual. If it’s your yellow week (recycling week), put out your yellow mixed recycling wheelie bin, glass crate and food scraps bin a day later than usual,” said Hamilton City Council Rubbish and Recycling Manager Trent Fowles.
The Hamilton Refuse Transfer Station on Lincoln Street will remain open on Labour Day from 9am to 4pm and the Hamilton Organic Centre will be open as normal from 8am to 5pm.
