Hamilton residents can offer early input to the development of the West Town Belt Masterplan at a special open day this Saturday 25 August.
Hamilton City Council is in the early stages of developing a masterplan for the West Town Belt, a significant 54ha expanse of public land and facilities adjacent to the central city and which includes the city’s two international sports stadiums (FMG Stadium Waikato and Seddon Park), Founders Theatre, several sports clubs and several parks.
The plan is being developed by staff in the Council’s Community Group, and is intended to give strategic direction to future use and decision making relating to the West Town Belt.
Saturday’s West Town Belt Open Day at Norris Ward Park gives residents an opportunity to share ideas and aspirations for the West Town Belt. The open day runs from 10am to 12pm, and the Council is particularly interested in hearing from residents who live near the West Town Belt.
The Council is also running an initial survey on use of the West Town Belt, which can be found – along with additional commentary on the project – at www.hamilton.govt.nz/westtownbelt
The survey link will be live from Saturday 25 August, and will close on 3 September.
Formal city-wide consultation will be undertaken once the draft masterplan has been developed.
