Your rubbish or recycling will be collected one day later than usual next week because of Labour Day on Monday 26 October.
This means if your rubbish or recycling collection falls on Monday, it will be collected on Tuesday, if it’s on Tuesday, it’ll be collected on Wednesday and so on through to Saturday. Collections will be back to normal from the following Monday 2 November.

Hamilton City Council Rubbish and Recycling Manager Trent Fowles says it’s the first public holiday since the new rubbish and recycling service started, however that won’t change people’s collection cycle.
“If it’s your red week (rubbish week), put out your red rubbish wheelie bin and food scraps bin a day later than usual. If it’s your yellow week (recycling week), put out your yellow mixed recycling wheelie bin, glass crate and food scraps bin a day later than usual.”
“To help, we’ve highlighted the public holidays on your collection calendar at the back of your handy how-to guide. We’ll also be sending daily reminders for each area on Antenno and will update the address finder on Fightthelandfill.co.nz so that it shows you the correct day for the coming week” says Fowles.
The Hamilton Refuse Transfer Station on Lincoln Street will remain open on Labour Day from 9am to 4pm.
