Hamilton City Council is calling on the community to shine a light on everyday heroes.
Nominations for the 2025 Hamilton Civic Awards are now open, and the deadline to submit them this year is Monday, 1 September 2025.
Hamilton Mayor Paula Southgate says the Civic Awards are a special opportunity to nominate someone who inspires you.
“There are fantastic people out there doing amazing things for our community. This is a chance to recognise the best of the best, said Southgate.
“It could be a neighbour who brings people together, a youth leader creating positive change, or an organisation who inspires with their work.”
Nominations can be for remarkable individuals, groups, or organisations who make Hamilton Kirikiriroa a better place to live, in any of the following categories:
- People and Well-being
- Art and Culture
- Sport
- Environment
- Education and Enterprise
- Youth
Nominees must reside within Hamilton city’s boundaries. Self-nominations are not accepted, but anyone else can nominate a deserving candidate.
Nominations can now also be submitted year-round and will be considered for the next available Civic Awards ceremony.
Before any public announcements, all selected award recipients will be contacted by the selection panel to confirm their consent.
If someone has made a real difference in your life, or in the lives of others, don’t miss this chance to honour them.
