What is the Youth Council and why are we creating one?
Hamilton City Council wants our city’s rangatahi to have a genuine voice in the decisions that affect you. You don’t need previous experience, just a passion to make a difference. We’ll guide you through everything you need!
The Youth Council will:
- provide advice to Council staff
- make submissions on matters of interest
- monitor progress of the Rangatahi Action Plan.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for up to 12 rangatahi aged 16–24 who live, work, or study in Hamilton.
No experience is needed just a genuine interest in representing your community and working together as a team.
When will the Youth Council meet?
Meetings will be held in-person from March until November 2026 with options to join online from the second meeting. The term will run for one year, with the option to reapply once it ends.
Meeting dates are:
- Monday 23 March from 3.30pm - 5pm
- Wednesday 22 April from 4pm - 5.30pm
- Wednesday 27 May from 4pm - 5.30pm
- Wednesday 24 June from 4pm - 5.30pm
- Wednesday 22 July from 4pm - 5.30pm
- Wednesday 26 August from 4pm - 5.30pm
- Wednesday 23 September from 4pm - 5.30pm
- Wednesday 28 October from 4pm - 5.30pm
- Wednesday 25 November from 4pm - 5.30pm.
